Wow, I let my poor little blog die for the last five months! I guess I didn't have enough motivation to write anything, being so busy with work and school.
Yesterday I got to go to the Pride Parade for the first time, after years of wanting to experience Pride Day. I work right next to Market Street, yet I never see any of the fun happenings on the weekend. It was definitely stepping out of my normal comfort zone, but I really had a great time. The Dykes on Bikes were the best part of the parade, especially the women decked out in awesome costumes. There was one frightening woman riding on a motorcycle that was very plus size with her ass hanging out for the world to see, complete with scratch marks from someones nails.
After the parade, we headed to Civic Center to check out the booths and festivities. There were lots of guys with their Mr. Peckers hanging out for the world to see, and most of them were nothing I wanted to see. We went into the Faerie Garden, where most of the nude guys were hanging out, lol, and I got to take my picture with one of them. Fortunately, my husband is not intimidated by his wife having her picture taken with a naked gay guy. I also got some free condoms at some of the booths, which my brother promptly snatched out of my hand when I offered them to him. I learned how to turn a condom into a dental dam, in case I ever decide to turn lesbian. Just don't use a flavored condom, because you don't want the recipient to be baking bread, if you know what I mean ;)
I loved seeing my aunt's reaction to everything, especially the naked people. She is a big Republican who voted yes for 8, and I am a big liberal who voted no on 8, but we both still had a good time. I think it was a little too much of a culture shock to her, but she was a trooper and had fun with everything.
